Fat Loss, One A Day At A Time

I have a respected guest contributor today, Holly Rigsby, of Fit Yummy Mummy

If you’ve been visiting this site for any time now, you know that I do not write all of the articles. I try to bring my readers honest, authoritative information on how to lose weight. To do that, I examine and review many sources of information and pick a few that align themselves with my views. I’ll even post contributor’s articles that differ from my views provided they are of merit. Losing weight, and targeting fat loss, is not easy, nor is it singular in the methods used.

There are also occasions that I prefer to simply defer to the experts and pass on and stress the most valuable aspects of their programs.

With Holly, it is a matter of weight loss for moms.

I am not a mom, I am a dad.

I did not go through the weight gain of a pregnancy, and I do not know the personal challenges of trying to regain a pre-pregnancy figure. But isn’t weight loss, after all, weight loss? Well, perhaps, but on this aspect, I would prefer to have it presented woman to woman.

Fat Loss, One A Day At A Time

Rome wasn’t built in a day and your fat loss won’t happen that way either. Don’t expect to start eating perfectly and exercising religiously tomorrow. Instead set yourself up for success by implementing at least one supportive habit per week. Make an effort to adopt the premise of “progress, not perfection.” By developing awareness that improvement is measured by your daily progress, you can save yourself a lot of grief and frustration from the beginning. Focusing on small, positive steps in everything you do is a vital component to change. It starts you moving in the right direction and the momentum of your amazing, transforming results will soon follow. With time, commitment and a willingness to continue to take those small steps, failure is not an option.

How to do it: Be mindful of the fact that you didn’t gain it overnight so you’re not going to lose it overnight. A safe and effective fat loss program will yield 1 to 2 pounds of fat loss a week, not 10. As you begin your weight loss journey, aim for 2-3 small improvements each week. Build up to eating more supportively and moving a little more than yesterday. These small changes will add up to big improvements over time.

Beware of supplements and “quick fixes” that promise accelerated fat loss. Instead, plan on losing fat weight slowly. Sure we all want instant results, but it’s impossible to undo a years of inactivity and poor nutrition overnight.

Instead of only looking at the big picture, try to break it down into smaller bites. Set one-month goals, three-month goals, six-month goals and even yearly goals. Carry over each previous goal to make sure that you aren’t stopping one to achieve another. Make sure goals are achievable and realistic and what you truly want. A half-hearted desire will produce half-hearted results.

Remember, life happens and we must face the challenges. Sometimes that means not getting to exercise or eat properly. The difference is we get it. We make it a point to view each situation, each setback as an opportunity to LEARN and ASK, “What could I do differently next time?” Then it becomes a matter of getting back on track as soon as possible. Leave the excuses and blame behind and forget about beating ourselves up – we’re only human. Strive to do a little better today than you did the day before. The key is to stay consistent, focused and take daily action. Make goals meaningful. Our minds cannot differentiate between achieving an enormous goal or a miniscule goal it only perceives success or failure. If you set a goal that is impossible to fail you’ll only be setting yourself up for tremendous victory.

Don’t be too rigid. Telling your self that you HAVE to workout for a set time to feel a sense of completion is ill fated. If you set out to workout for 30 minutes and you only get in 20, you’ll more apt to be disappointed regardless of how hard you worked. If you simply set a goal to go to the gym at least 2-3 days a week and complete your resistance training and cardio you’ll perceive yourself as a winner.

An additional goal idea: Have you ever wanted to participate in a race or sport that you’ve never had the endurance for? Then use that as a goal! When the end justifies the means it’s easier to make it through the rough spots. It’s a win-win situation if you are able to achieve a want and a need simultaneously!

Nothing much to do with Healthy Weight Loss

Well, on second thought… The event for me this month was a business opportunity that resulted in me designing IM guru Launch Pad, an unrelated web site… unrelated to healthy weight loss that is. But I did not ignore my roots here, and managed to lose 3 pounds this week – and it was still a Fit Fat Loss effort.

Something unique about IM guru Launch Pad is that I have the only prerelease interview for the Whitehat Copycat – the reason I designed the site. It may end up being the only interview outside of their team – exclusive interview! - but time will tell… they did hint that no others were being done. 

No details here since it is not about fit fat loss, healthy weight loss, or even the Fit Fat Loss Event. But you can see my latest site and listen to the interview by clicking on the link.

My diet was modified a bit to keep me at my peak for the more stressful period that I went through and it seems to have worked. The stress was nothing more than usual with work-related deadlines… we’ve all been through it.

I just needed to supplement a bit more, depend upon some extra protein and get this… have a slice of whole wheat bread that I spread with honey.

The opportunity was unexpected and as an internet marketer, you have to respond. But I’m at a point now that I can slow down and resume the lifestyle that matches that of a Fit Fat Loss Event!

When you look around Fit Fat Loss, you should notice I added a couple of entries down the left side under the Blogroll, and it will continue to expand over time. I’m doing that to add some more variety to my site. Not everything has to be about dieting and healthy weight loss after all.

These are links to other sites: one is a very short Exercise Quiz, another covers Food Safety, and another, of personal interest, is an article totally unrelated to my pitching how to lose weight, regarding winter bird feeding. Then, back to the serious side of things is a link regarding the Presidential Fitness Test for adults.

I thought that test would never resurface – not that I suffered with it in high school and never wanted to see it again, because, I didn’t. It was just the opposite back then – I excelled in it. Now, being well over 40, I would suffer, deeply, if I could even complete it. But, this blog was born, in part, to serve for me as my own incentive-maker to personally lose weight and get fit. It’s working too. 10 pounds gone, 19 more to go. So, as soon as I feel prequalified for the test, and somewhat prepared, I’ll see if I can take it for my age group, which is, as I said, well over 40. (for my more familiar readers, who are probably laughing right about now, go ahead… enter that comment… maybe I’ll approve it… maybe I won’t… I’ll claim editor’s privileges!)
